Rob Colson

Principal Consultant

Rob has over 35 years experience in senior executive, project management and engineering roles. Most recently, Rob has been managing distributed energy projects at major Australian gentailer AGL.

Rob was the CEO of the Australia/NZ arm of global meter manufacturer Landis+Gyr for more than a decade. Following the merger of Landis+Gyr, Ampy Email and Enermet, Rob became the COO of the merged entity, responsible for manufacturing and supply chain, including managing the rapid ramp-up of meter production for the Victorian smart meter rollout. He was also responsible for optimising Landis+Gyr’s manufacturing and supply chain footprint across the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to Landis+Gyr, Rob held engineering and management positions at the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, where he obtained a grounding in utility operations and systems and became an industry expert in advanced metering and distribution automation.

In addition to sales, marketing and business management activities at P&L level, Rob has managed major business redesign and restructuring projects including the closure and merger of manufacturing sites and the establishment of outsourced supply chains. He has been on the core team for several Enterprise Management System projects, including the rollout of SAP, and has been a member of the integration and due diligence teams for a number of mergers and acquisitions.

Rob has extensive experience in business development, executive management, restructuring and business systems, together with project management, manufacturing operations and supply chain. He is skilled in distributed energy, metrology and utility metering and has been a member of numerous standards committees and energy industry consultative bodies.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Elec).
